Food Safety Training Essential

By law all food handlers must receive adequate supervision, instruction and/or training in food hygiene for the work that they do. It is important that individuals related to the food industry know about food poisoning – what causes it and how it gets into our food, how to prevent contamination and the growth of bacteria and also individuals should know the law surrounding the food industry and how it affects their role and responsibility of a supplier of food.

The only way this can be undertaken is through accredited food safety training. By law all food related companies within Ireland and the UK have to ensure that all their employees are trained in the correct disciplines with the certificates to be shown as proof of compliance. What a lot of companies are faced with is the unprecedented staff turnover which cannot be avoided. This complicated the training process for the training division as they goal is get all people trained in the correct disciplines all of the time. There are new training solutions available that provide a management system that enables employers to track and record all employees that leave the organisation, new employees that are recruited and those that move positions with the organisation. This then ensures that all the correct people are trained in the correct disciplines all of the time and are compliant within industry for auditing purposes.

  1. Everyone really needs to have a proper knowledge, and understanding of how to prepare food and how to handle it effectively and safely. We could actually all get our own food hygiene training if we want to, so that we can be assure of the safety precautions and standards on cooking, preparing and serving food.
